Pakistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan and to some extent Saudi Arabia must not be feeling good as Major General Yusuf Saeed, Commander of Land Forces of UAE, one of the most powerful Muslim countries in the world, suddenly reached India. He was given a ceremonial guard of honor at the South Lawn in New Delhi, marking the beginning of his official visit to India. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi was present at the ceremony.

Hallami is on a two-day visit to India from October 27 and 28 with the aim of strengthening bilateral military cooperation and exploring new areas of cooperation in training, capacity building and defense technology. The visit highlights the growing strategic partnership between India and the UAE, especially in the areas of defense and regional security. In fact, to understand how big and unusual an event it is for the Commander of the UAE Army to come to India, you will have to keep in mind the defense deal between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Because Saudi Arabia’s neighbor and Saudi Arabia’s biggest rival in the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, has reached out to India for a huge defense deal. India has ruined the defense deal between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in one stroke. Seeing the commander of UAE in India, Saudi Arabia will put on hold the deal made with Pakistan. In the matter of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia will neither mess with India nor its neighbor and rival United Arab Emirates. Well, Saudi Arabia might be regretting that its army will be trained by Pakistan’s army.

As a part of his programmes, the visiting Commander was given an overview of Operation Sindoor and received briefing from the Director General Information Systems and Army Design Bureau on India’s defense capabilities and the Artificial Intelligence Roadmap of the Indian Army. Major General Al Hallami will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial to pay tribute to the martyred soldiers of India. Later he will visit the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) headquarters, where he will be briefed about various indigenous weapon systems and equipment. He is also expected to meet Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development and DRDO Chairman Sameer V. Kamat to discuss opportunities for defense technology cooperation. Additionally, the UAE Commander will interact with representatives of Indian defense industries to explore possibilities of joint projects and partnerships.

According to a Defense Ministry press statement, the visit marks an important milestone in the defense cooperation between the UAE and India. It will further strengthen the already strong defense ties, paving the way for a strong, future-ready partnership in military engagement and regional security cooperation.
