Mann ki baat. PM Modi appreciated the ‘Rashtra first’ sentiment of RSS, the mantra of ‘Swadeshi’ before 100th anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday openly praised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s selfless service and a sense of discipline in the 126th edition of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. The address came a few days before the completion of 100 years of the establishment of the RSS on Vijayadashami.

The Prime Minister said that the real strength of the RSS is a sense of renunciation, service and discipline, and in every work of its volunteers, the spirit of ‘nation first’ is paramount.

Prime Minister Modi, who has been a RSS pracharak himself, said that Keshav Baliram Hedgewar established the RSS on the day of Vijayadashami in 1925 with the aim of freeing the country from intellectual slavery. He said that since then the RSS journey has been inspiring, notable and unprecedented.

Modi made Hedgewar’s successor M.S. Golwalkar was also praised. He mentioned Golwalkar’s statement ‘This is not mine, this is the nation’ and said that this message has inspired millions of volunteers to dedicate the nation by rising above selfishness. The Prime Minister also said that the RSS volunteers reach the first to come anywhere in the country.

Emphasis on PM Swadeshi and ‘Vocal for Local’

Prime Minister Modi once again insisted on promoting indigenous products and making ‘Vocal for Local’ to make a purchase mantra. He urged people to buy any Khadi product on Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October.

He said, ‘Decide, forever, what has been prepared in the country, will buy the same. In which a citizen of the country is hard, we will use the same goods. He explained that when we do this, we awaken the expectations of a family, respect the hard work of the artisan, and the young entrepreneur’s dreams.
