Mamta Banerjee’s hook at the martyr’s day rally, nothing like SIR will happen in West Bengal

Fasting the talk of her ‘Bengali Asmita’ (Gaurav) before the 2026 assembly elections in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday accused the BJP of spreading linguistic terrorism and said that the identity and language fight will continue until the saffron party loses in both state and center. Banerjee said that we respect all languages, whether it is Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Rajasthani. The people of West Bengal played a big role in the freedom movement. No one else can do what the people of West Bengal can do.
Addressing the TMC Martyr’s Day rally in Kolkata, Banerjee called for defeating the saffron party in the 2026 elections and eventually evicting the BJP from the Center’s power. In front of the huge crowd at the rally site in Central Kolkata, Banerjee thundered that there will be a linguistic movement against BJP’s terrorism on Bengali language. From July 27, the linguistic movement will begin in West Bengal to protest against the attacks on Bengalis. He insisted, “We have to win more seats in the 2026 assembly elections and then travel to Delhi to defeat the BJP.
At the Martyr’s Day rally of Trinamool Congress, Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP is planning to do exercises like SIR in Bengal, it will never be allowed. Take out every weekend protest rallies after July 27 against the BJP attacks on Bengalis. Banerjee alleged that Bengalis are being harassed in BJP ruled states and are being kept in custody camps.

Banerjee’s sharp speech spoke on several issues, from NRC notice in West Bengal to target Bengalis in BJP ruled states, allegedly putting them into detention camps and their efforts to remove their names from voter list. He said, “In 2019, he broke the statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar. Now, he has issued notifications to remove the names of Bengalis from the voter list. In BJP -ruled states, Bengalis are being harassed and kept in detention camps.”

Attacking Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he said, “He cannot handle his kingdom, but is interfering in the affairs of West Bengal. I urge Sushmita Dev to hold a huge protest in Assam. We will all join it.” Banerjee said that about 1.5 crore migrants come from other states in West Bengal, but they never faced harassment.
