Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has said that the Mahayuti government has not back down from its promise of loan waiver of farmers and assured that steps in this regard would be taken at the right time.
The opposition party is targeting the ruling coalition of the ruling coalition of delaying agricultural loan waiver and not expressing concern about the plight of the farmers of the state.
Pawar told reporters on Sunday, “We have not back down from our promise of agricultural loan waiver. We are committed to the assurances given in the Mahayuti manifesto. A committee has been formed, as such decisions require careful consideration of financial aspects. ”
He said that the government is standing strongly with the farmers. He said, “We never said that we will not forgive debt.” At the right time, the committee will present detailed information. ”
Pawar also highlighted the steps being taken by the government for the farmers and said that the Center and the state together provide Rs 12,500 per farmer and the electricity corporations have been paid Rs 20,000 crore for payment of their electricity bills.
He said, “Apart from this, we provide Rs 1,500 to women under ‘Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’. We also give interest -free loan to the farmers so that they do not have to go to private moneylenders.
Earlier this month, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule had said that instead of fully loan waiver, the government is working towards giving relief to poor farmers who have no produce in the fields and who have taken loans and who are expected to commit suicide.
During the monsoon session of the state assembly, the government said that a committee has been formed to study whether the loan waiver should be given or not and how it should be implemented.
