Maharashtra: Shiv Sena worker murdered in Titwala before local body elections

An official of the ruling Shiv Sena was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified people in Titwala, located in Maharashtra’s Thane district. A police officer gave this information on Saturday. The officer said that the incident took place near Mamnoli village on Kalyan-Murbad road late on Friday night.

“Four to five people stopped his (Shiv Sena worker’s) car in Mamnoli village and attacked him several times with knives,” said an officer of Kalyan taluka police station. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Colleagues of the deceased Kiran Ghorad (35) said that he was a resident of Goveli village and was actively associated with Shiv Sena. An official of Kalyan Taluka police station said that investigation into the case is ongoing.

“We are investigating whether this is the result of some old enmity, property or land dispute or some political angle as local body elections are round the corner,” he said. Every possible effort is being made to solve the case and arrest the culprits.” Apart from the BJP, Maharashtra’s ‘Mahayuti’ government includes Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party.
