Maharashtra government wants to give relief amount to flood affected farmers before Diwali: Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on Saturday that the state government is distributing funds to flood affected farmers and she wants to ensure that the relief amount before Diwali reaches all farmers.

Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra from September 20 and due to its raging rivers, many parts of the state, especially the Marathwada region, have suffered extensive damage.

According to the government, at least nine people have lost their lives in rain -caused accidents, while crops in more than 30,000 hectares have been destroyed due to floods. Speaking to reporters in Pune, Shinde said, “We have visited the fields and reviewed the situation. Our government is firmly standing with the farmers. We met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and have given him a letter to help them. Whenever a crisis has come, the Center has always supported.”

He said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and made him aware of the situation arising out of heavy rains in Maharashtra. Shinde said, “funds are being given for reconstruction of houses and loss of cattle, crops and life and property. The government believes that money should be reached in the hands of farmers before Diwali.”

When the help provided by the state government of the opposition parties is very low, Shinde said that such critics should go to the fields to wipe the tears and see their situation instead of doing politics.
