Maharashtra approves Rs 648 crore for crop compensation

Maharashtra government has sanctioned Rs 648.15 crore to provide relief to farmers affected by excessive rains and floods during monsoon this year. The officers provided this information.

Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Jadhav-Patil said on Tuesday that as a special measure, the relief limit has also been increased from two hectares to three hectares.

He said in the statement that the objective of this decision is to provide immediate financial assistance to rain-affected farmers and a Government Resolution (GR) has been issued in this regard.

Jadhav-Patil said that so far the Relief and Rehabilitation Department has sanctioned about Rs 8,139 crore to assist farmers affected by natural disasters during the current Kharif season. He said that this decision will benefit 6,12,177 farmers and 6,56,310.83 hectares of affected crop area will be included in its scope.
