In his address on the occasion of Independence Day on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that by the end of 2025, ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chips will be available in the market.

He also urged the youth of the country to develop social media such as indigenous technology platforms. The Prime Minister said that the idea of setting up semiconductor factory in India was the first to come 50-60 years ago, but the plan remained hanging in the balance until the government has started working in mission mode on the semector industry, under which six chip plants have already been constructed. Modi said that in the next two decades, work is going on to create 10 new nuclear reactors under the mission to increase nuclear power generation capacity over 10 times. The Prime Minister also challenged scientists and youth to develop the country’s own jet engines for “Made in India” fighter jets.

He said, “Today, the ramparts of my Red Fort have called the young scientists of the country, my talented youth, my engineers and professionals and every department of the government, whether the jet engine should be our own for the ‘Made in India’ fighter aircraft?” The Prime Minister also announced the big reforms in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and promised to give gifts for the citizens.
