Loveyapa Movie Review: Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s romantic film issue good but many weak links!

Loveyapa Movie Review: Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s much awaited generation Z romantic-comedy Lavayapa today (February 7, 2025) has come on the big screen and is winning the hearts of people. The romance of this digital age has received a great response from fans. But our opinion is slightly different. The story of the film addresses many relevant problems like body shaming, social media manipulation, gaslighting and deepfec, but does not highlight any issue well. Not only this, but the main stars also failed to impress their performance in this routine romantic comedy. However, many supportive actors in the film deserve praise.
Story
The story revolves around Gaurav Sachdeva, aka Gucci (starred by Junaid) and Bani (starred by Khushi), who love each other, but when they try to take their relationship to the next level, they face challenges from Atul Kumar Sharma – Bani’s father – (starred by Ashutosh Rana). Her father asks them to exchange their cell phones as a challenge to investigate their level of trust. Subsequently, bitterness begins to increase between them as many things come in front of them.

This story of doubt and love test ends at a point that is slightly emotional, but the story shattered by the end, and it seems that its end could be improved. In the first part, the story keeps you tied and entertains you a lot, but the second part seems a little sudden. To an extent, you will be able to guess things in advance. Despite all the quarrels and doubts, Bani’s father accepts her relationship, which is quite estimated.

Acting
Junaid Khan is the weakest link in Lavayapa. Junaid fails to influence the audience in expressing the right feelings on the big screen. Their facial expressions do not match dialogues and many scenes seem very sharp. Also, the things they can easily say in a slow voice are also seen screaming, which many times bothers the audience.
On the other hand, Khushi Kapoor is much better than Junaid in the film. He has improved a lot since his first film The Archies. But he has difficulty in speaking Hindi properly, however, Khushi has done well in an emotional scene. Finally, Ashutosh Rana has defeated everyone in the film with his acting skills and in some scenes he has overtaken the lead actors.
Direction
Director Advaita Chandan has also impressed with his work before, although this time he has done a great job in the first part of the film, but in the second part he did not show magic. WhatsApp chat and Instagram chat’s animated representation makes it feel as if everything is being said in front of you. Some scenes will definitely influence the audience, such as Junaid’s bathroom scene and a sequence between Bani and Gaurav. The director has also put the songs less in the film, which is quite good at the story of the film.

How is the film?
Overall, the film is average. The film has an interesting story of an exchange of cell phone; However, it fails to take it to another level in the second half. Lavayapa also touches the subject of Deepfec, but the film could not do proper justice and failed to consider it deeply. The film is once worth watching, but do not expect much from its climax and main stars.
