Police have registered a case against four people for cheating Rs 97.75 lakh from an interior decorator on the pretext of getting commercial loans through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Fund. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. The accused implicated the 45 -year -old victim living in Badlapur area of Thane district of Maharashtra and implicated them in their trap by promising to get a commercial loan of Rs 2.75 crore from the fund under CSR.

The accused won his trust and demanded him to deposit the bank guarantee amount. A police officer from Badlapur said that by relying on the assurance of the accused, the victim paid them Rs 99.25 lakh.

He said that the accused later returned only Rs 1.5 lakh from it, while the remaining Rs 97.75 lakh was allegedly withdrawn without sanctioning any loan. The victim lodged a police complaint on Monday. The official said that after initial inquiry, the police registered a case against four people under the relevant legal provisions and their search is on.
