The court also ordered the Madhya Pradesh Police to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the case. The bench had directed Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) to set up an SIT by 20 May. The team should include three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of Madhya Pradesh cadre, including a female officer. The court also ordered that the three officers should be outside the state. The SIT should be headed by a at least by the officer of Inspector General of Police, while the post of other two members should not be less than the Superintendent of Police (SP).
