Lieutenant Governor expressed condolences on the death of people in landslide in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday expressed grief over the deaths of many people in the landslide due to rain in Kathua district and said that Home Minister Amit Shah has been informed about rescue and relief works.

Sinha posted on ‘X’ and said, “I am deeply saddened by the death of people in the devastating landslide due to rain in many areas of Kathua. This tragedy is heartbreaking. ‘

He said, “Informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Army, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force), SDRF (State Disaster Response Force), Rescue and Relief Campaign of Police and Administration.”

In the early hours of Sunday, at least seven people were killed and five others were injured in two separate incidents of cloudburst and landslides in Kathua district. The Lieutenant Governor said, “I have directed senior officers of administration and police to ensure coordination in rescue and assistance efforts in affected areas and also to provide medical assistance on the spot. My condolences are with bereaved families and I pray for the injured to recover early.
