After withdrawing his petition from the Supreme Court, North Indian Development Army National President Sunil Shukla has approached the Bombay High Court against the party of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray. Shukla’s petition has demanded police protection for him and his family, as well as a demand to direct the Election Commission of India to consider action under the Representation of the People Act, 1951, including allegedly canceling MNS recognition to promote hatred and enmity. He has also demanded the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate incidents of hate speech, threats and physical violence by MNS workers.

As an interim relief, the petition requested the court to prevent Thackeray from giving inflammatory speeches. Earlier, Shukla had alleged that the Maharashtra government and the police, while moving the Supreme Court, had ignored his repeated requests for violence, threats and criminal cases against MNS workers. He claimed that he was targeted for threatening by MNS and its associated groups for advocating the rights of North Indians.

In his petition filed in the Bombay High Court, Shukla said that on October 6, 2024 at around 3 pm, about 30 persons associated with MNS and its associated organizations entered their political party office premises and tried to vandalize the property. After the incident, Shukla and her family allegedly received several threatened calls from MNS workers. He said that he lodged a complaint against the party workers and contacted the department related to the last 10 months, but no action was taken.
