The law and order situation in Bihar is continuously deteriorating. The fourth incident of firing in the state has come to light within the last 24 hours. On Thursday, a person named Jitendra Kumar Mahato (58 -year -old) was shot dead in Sultanpur police station area of Patna, causing a stir in the entire area.
Lawyer returning after drinking tea shot
Patna Eastern Superintendent of Police, Advantra Kumar said that Jitendra Kumar Mahato was returning after drinking tea on Thursday, when unknown assailants shot him. According to Kumar, ‘criminals shot a person named Jitendra Mahato. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment, where he died. Police have found three bullet kiosks from the spot, and are being investigated with all possible aspects of the case.
Police officials said the deceased Mahato was a lawyer by profession, although he was not actively advocating for the last two years. His family told the police that he used to come to drink tea every day. SP Kumar said, “Today he came here to drink tea and was shot while returning.”

Investigation continues, searching for attackers
ASP Atulesh Jha of Patna City has also visited the spot. The team of Sultanpur police station is investigating the case deeply. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has also been informed, and police are investigating CCTV footage of the surrounding areas to identify the attackers.

Fourth incident in the state in 24 hours
Mahato was assassinated after three other deadly firing incidents in Bihar within 24 hours, which has raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in the electoral state.
Businessman murdered in Sitamarhi: Unidentified assailants shot and killed businessman Puttu Khan in the head at the busy market Mehsaul Chowk in Sitamarhi district.
Veterinarian shot in Patna: In Sheikhpura village in Patna district, veterinarian Surendra Kumar (50) was shot while irrigating in his field. According to officials, bike -riding gunmen opened fire on them. He was found unconscious in a severely injured state and the villagers took him to Patna AIIMS, where he died during treatment.
Grocery shopkeeper murdered: In Ramakrishna Nagar area, an unknown assailant shot and killed Vikram Jha, owner of a grocery shop. The police have started investigation, but the purpose of murder is not yet clear. The worrying thing is that no arrests have been made in these four cases so far.
