EOS-09 will be launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to launch its 101st satellite EOS-09 (Earth Observatory Satellite) on 18 May through Polar Satellite Launching Vehicle (PSLV-C61). This will be the 63rd flight of PSLV. While the PSLV-XL will be 27th flight using the configuration.

ISRO has written about the launch in the X post that the height of EOS-09 is 44.5 meters. The weight is 321 tons. It is made in 4 phases. This mission will install the EOS-09 satellite in the sun synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO). EOS-09 is designed to give remote sensing data.

The launch of this satellite will be from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota at 5.59 minutes on Sunday morning. Former ISRO scientist Manish Purohit said that EOS-09 is a follow on mission of earlier Risat-1.

The EOS-09 is designed to explore especially infiltration or suspected activities. It is considered important for anti -terrorist operation after Pahalgam terror attack and operation vermilion.

After 17 minutes of launching of the PSLV-C61 rocket, the EOS-09 satellite is expected to be installed in Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit. After the satellite is separated in the prescribed orbit (Earth’s orbits), the scientists will later use orbit changes on the vehicle to reduce the height. This mission life is 5 years.

EOS-09 is an advanced observation satellite equipped with Earth Observatory Satellite C-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar Technology. It can capture high resolution photos of the Earth’s surface at day and night in every season. This capacity strengthens India’s surveillance and management system in many areas.

Preparation to launch Nisar

ISRO is also preparing to launch NASA-Israo Synthetic Aperture Radar (Nisar) satellite on GSLV-F16. Nisar will use the developed double band radar system through both NASA and ISRO to track changes in the Earth’s surface, ecology and natural disasters, which will provide data on global climate conditions.
