Karnataka Labor Minister Santosh Lad has described a large -scale trimming in the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as “worrying”. The step has been taken by this legendary IT company after the announcement of a plan to cut more than 12,000 jobs globally in the financial year 2025-26. India’s largest IT company TCS has announced a cut of about two percent in its global workforce under strategic reorganization. The company said that this step is aimed at increasing efficiency and preparing for future demands, not inspired by AI-based efficiency growth. Minister Lad said that this is absolutely unusual. Suddenly trimmed 12,000 people, and that too in TCS, is a large number. This is worrisome. Our teams are in touch with them and I will also check the reasons behind it. We will investigate the legal aspects, especially in terms of labor law. Historically, some concessions have been given to emerging areas.

Most affected are the medium to senior -level professionals, although some junior employees, especially those who have been out of job for a long time, are also being affected. In a comment published by Moneycontrol, TCS CEO K.K. Kritivasan clarified that this decision is part of a long -term plan to new look to the company’s workforce. He said that it is not that we need fewer people. We will continue to get, train and invest in high-quality talent. This is about how and where talents can be effectively deployed.

TCS has already trained more than 5,50,000 employees to basic AI and about 1,00,000 employees in advanced AI. However, adopting new techniques has proved to be difficult for many people, especially for senior positions who are more accustomed to traditional project structures. The Tata Group company has announced that it will trim more than 12,000 employees this year, which is about 2 percent of its global workforce. This will have the most impact on medium and senior -level professionals.
