Large relief to 410 part -time commercial teachers, LG also took a big decision, salary also increased

LG VK Saxena of Delhi has approved the continuity and renewal of part-time professional teachers (PTVT) in Delhi’s government and government aided schools for the academic session 2025-26, which further strengthens the education system by ensuring uninterrupted teaching facilities in government schools in Delhi. According to the release, the Education Department of the Delhi Government demanded an increase in 410 PTVT – which includes 402 qualified and 8 non -qualified teachers in Delhi government schools from 01.04.2025 to 31.03.2026, which LG approved. In addition, Saxena has approved the renewal of contracts of 02 contract part -time commercial teachers appointed under hospitality and tourism business stream for a period of 01.03.2025 to 28.02.2026.
The proposal also includes continuity of 09 part-time commercial teachers currently posted in 04 government aided senior secondary schools in Delhi for the academic year 2025-26.

Part -time professional teachers have been serving in Delhi schools on a contingent or contractual basis since the late 1970s and the early 2000s. He was originally appointed to teach professional subjects and continues to do so under the National Skill Qualification Exhale (NSQF), which CBSE introduced to change the earlier business stream. These teachers are currently engaged in giving skill-based education to students from class 9 to 12 to suit NSQF.

The department has highlighted that the number of PTVT is continuously decreasing due to retirement and the absence of new recruitment, making it important to maintain existing teachers for continuity in skill education. Out of 505 PTVT currently working in Delhi government schools, 410 are given casual salary, whose continuity has now been approved, while the remaining 95 are working in temporary posts, which are renewed every year with the consent of the Finance Department.
