KT Rama Rao urged the Election Commission through ballot papers

BRS Executive Chairman KT Rama Rao urged the Election Commission of India to vote with ballots instead of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). After a meeting with the Commission in Delhi, he said that many developed countries like America, Britain, Germany and Italy have distanced the EVMs due to public disbelief and India should consider doing so. After the meeting with the Election Commission in Delhi, KTR said, “We have requested the Election Commission to formally conduct all election ballot papers. It should start from Bihar assembly elections and should be extended to the general elections of 2026.

KTR said that doubt that the votes are actually going to the intended candidate or not, can reduce confidence in the electoral process. He said that if people start questioning whether their vote is priced or not, then it is a serious threat to democracy. He stressed that for a country with about 100 crore voters, transparency is necessary in the polling system. During the meeting, KTR also raised other concerns before the Commission. He said that political parties should be held accountable to make false promises during the election campaign. Referring to the Congress, he alleged that the party had made 420 promises including guarantee cards in Telangana and public oath in temples, but did not fulfill them. He demanded the Election Commission to take action against such misleading claims.

He also expressed concern over the removal of about 65 lakh names from the voter list in Bihar. According to KTR, the names of the deceased, migrant and passive voters were removed without transparency. He urged the Election Commission to include all political parties at the booth, village and mandal level in the voter list amendment process so that fairness could be ensured. Another issue was raised, it was the confusion arising due to the symbols similar to the BRS party’s car election symbol. KTR said in recent elections, BRS lost 14 seats by a margin of less than 6,000 votes, and blamed the same -looking symbols such as road roller, ships and chapattters to mislead voters.
