Kolkata Police has arrested 153 people for violating various laws during post-Diwali celebrations. These include inappropriate behavior and releasing prohibited fireworks. This information was given by an officer on Thursday. Of the total arrests made on Wednesday, 146 people were arrested for indecent behavior while seven people were arrested for bursting banned firecrackers.

There were no arrests for any gambling-related offences, the official said, adding that police also initiated 383 traffic prosecutions during the period. During this operation, police officials also seized 16.95 kg of banned fireworks material and 14.4 liters of illicit liquor.

The official said that among the traffic violation cases, 85 cases were of driving without helmet. Besides, there were 37 cases of pillion riding without helmet, 73 of careless driving and 64 of drunk driving. There are 124 cases which involved other categories of crimes.
