About Kiran Bedi
She belongs to an affluent Punjabi family. He was born on 9 June 1949 in Amritsar. His father’s name was Prakash Lal Peshawaria and mother Premlata Peshawaria. After doing her early studies in Amritsar, she completed her further studies from Punjab University in Chandigarh. She served as a lecturer at Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar. Meanwhile, in 1972, he was selected for the Indian Police Service. It is a matter of that era when people in India did not even think about the selection of women in the civil services examination through competitive examination. Women were considered confined to household chores only. But by being selected as the country’s first woman IPS, Kiran Bedi was successful in breaking this notion.
Very impressive tenure
He did a great job after becoming IPS. During her tenure, she did not hesitate to take tough decisions at all. Examples of all his harsh decisions are given even today. He also did all the reformist work during this period. Due to which he was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1994, called the Nobel of Asia.
