Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday warned that some selfish people are deliberately trying to split a communal spirit in the society.
He said in a post on Facebook, “Some people promote that caste is bigger than humanity and in a state like Kerala, such ideas are gaining momentum, while this state at one time eliminated the superstitions and misdeeds spread due to religion and caste.”
Vijayan said this while remembering him on the 171st birth anniversary of the 20th century saint and social reformer Shri Narayan Guru. The Chief Minister in his post on Facebook remembered the Guru as a great reformer, who gave a message to people to unite and educate through knowledge and rise above caste-religion.
Vijayan said that although communal forces are trying to name Narayan Guru’s legacy nowadays. The leftist leader remembered the Guru as a reformer who openly questioned the supremacy of upper caste and social evils and strongly opposed the atrocities and economic exploitation on the basis of caste.
The Chief Minister said in a post on ‘X’, “On the birth anniversary of Shri Narayan Guru, we are remembering the great reformer who gave us the message of rising above unity, caste and religion. His attitude of considering humanity as one still inspires the Renaissance of Kerala and inspires us to fight divisive forces.
