Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday requested his counterpart Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh to ensure the safety of 18 tourists from the southern state of southern state trapped due to sudden floods and landslides in the hill state.
Officials said that the group part of a tour organized by an agency in Kochi is trapped in Kalpa, Himachal Pradesh. Vijayan urged the Himachal Pradesh government to take immediate steps to save tourists and ensure their reserved return to Kerala.
According to an official statement, Kerala officials are in constant touch with their counterparts in Himachal Pradesh for coordination in this effort. The Chief Minister also requested the safety of the trapped people and ensuring their easy comeback.
The statement said that Chief Minister Vijayan expressed the solidarity of Kerala with the people of Himachal Pradesh affected by the natural disaster. According to officials, the group left Kerala for Manali on 25 August. Officials said that tourists are from different parts of Kerala.
