Three militants were killed by security forces in a day-long encounter on Thursday in a remote wild area of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, 3 soldiers of the Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police were also injured in the encounter, who died during treatment.
The names of the three martyred soldiers are Tariq Ahmed, Jaswant Singh, Balwinder Singh. He was referred to Jammu Medical College (JMC). These soldiers of the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir were shot in the stomach.
The injured deputy SP Dheeraj Singh and other injured have been sent to Udhampur. Security forces said that firing started at around 8 am on Thursday morning at Rajbagh in Kathua district.
About 9 terrorists were reported hiding in Jakhole village of Juthana area of Rajbagh. Jaish-e-Mohammed’s proxy organization People’s Anti-Fascist Front has claimed responsibility for the police.
The joint team of SOG, Army, BSF and CRPF conducted a search operation with the help of thermal imaging, drones, helicopters, bulletproof vehicles and investigative dogs for the terrorists.
Officials said the security forces have stopped the campaign for the night, so the bodies of the terrorists have not been recovered yet. The operation will be resumed on Friday morning.
