Eminent Tamil YouTuber Felix Garald was arrested on Tuesday on charges of “spreading rumors” in connection with the stampede at the Karur rally of Vijay -turned -leader Vijay. Police gave this information. The arrest has been taken after the police registered a case against 20 people and the arrest of three people on charges of spreading rumors about the stampede. Gerald has a YouTube channel in which information is provided in Tamil on contemporary subjects.
Meanwhile, a special police team arrested Tamilga Vatri Kazhagam (TVK) officer Paunraj for giving shelter to the main accused in the stampede case and party officer Mathialgan. Mathialgan has already been arrested. The FIRs lodged in the Mathialgan stampede incident were among the three TV officials named.
The FIRs include two other party officials of the party nominated by the state general secretary of TVK Bussi Anand and the party’s Deputy General Secretary Nirmal Kumar. A case has been registered against the three TVK officials under Section 105 (culpable homicide) of the Indian Justice Code, 110 (attempted culpable homicide), 125 (endangering the lives of others) and 223 (disobedience of order).
In the FIR lodged after the incident, Mathiajhagan has been made the main accused. The rally was organized by TVK, a political party launched by actor Vijay.
Although TVK chief Vijay was not named in the FIR, it included the names of three party officials: Mathialgan (Karur District Secretary), Bussi N Anand (State General Secretary) and CTR Nirmal Kumar (State Joint Secretary), and it was said that Vijay did unauthorized road shows before reaching Velusamipuram, where his car was in a huge crowd.
According to a police officer, the three party leaders have been charged under Section 105 (culpable homicide) of the Indian Justice Code, 110 (attempt to murder), 125 (endangering life) and 223 (disobedience of order) as well as Section 3 of the Tamil Nadu Public Property (Damage and Damage Prevention) Act, 1992.
