Kantara: Chapter 1 Collection | Rishabh Shetty’s Kantara overtook ‘Chhaava’, became the biggest hit of 2025, a hit at the box office!

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, surpassing the lifetime record of ‘Chhaava’ at the worldwide box office. Directed by Rishabh Shetty, this film has achieved the biggest achievement by crossing the record of earning Rs 800 crore worldwide in 25 days. Produced by Hombale Films, this historical folk-drama grossed approximately Rs 812.8 crore (final figures are yet to come), leaving the Vicky Kaushal starrer, which had earned Rs 808 crore in its lifetime at the global box office.

Although new films are coming to the theatres, the craze for ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has not subsided yet. If the film maintains its momentum, it is a strong contender to earn around Rs 875 crore or more worldwide. What else?

According to trade website Sacanilc, this mythological action film is also the first film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in Karnataka. The film has grossed Rs 235 crore in 25 days, creating a new record for its local film industry.

Domestically, the film is inching closer to the mammoth Rs 600 crore nett figure after its fourth weekend. ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ collected around Rs 10.3 crore on its fourth Sunday, taking its 25-day collection to Rs 589.50 crore.

‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has catapulted Rishabh Shetty, who is also the writer-director of the film, among the top Indian actors across the world. His rise from a Kannada actor to a pan-India star is genuine, and seems to be based entirely on filmmaking merit. Both ‘Kantara’ films have been praised for their content, acting and wonderful direction – making the film a standout performer.

Rukmini Vasant, Jairam, Gulshan, Devaiya and Prakash Thuminad are also the artists of the film.
