On 6 May, Junior Artist MF Kapil of the film Kantara 2 died of drowning in the river. His body was found floating in the river. It was being told that Kapil went to swim in the lunch break between Kantara-2 shooting, where he died of strong current. As soon as the news came out, the film Federation demanded strict action on the makers and the matter. However, now the makers of Kantara-2 issued an official statement saying that Kapil has not died between shooting, as there was no shooting that day.

Kantara-2 production company Hobale Films recently wrote on the X platform (first Twitter), we are deeply miserable due to the untimely demise of Junior Artist MF Kapil. In this difficult time, our condolences are with his family and loved ones. In view of the recent discussions, we want to tell with full respect that Kapil has not died on the set of Kantara. The day he died, there was no shooting schedule. This incident must have happened in the midst of his personal decisions, at that time he was not a part of any activity related to the film.

According to the reports, on May 6, MF Kapil went to swim in the river Suparnika in the shooting break of shooting. After which he was swept away with strong current. On receiving information about the incident, the Fire Department and the local administration started their rescue operation. On the same day, his body was found floating in the river. The investigation of the case is going on after the complaint is lodged at Kollur police station.

Artist Association claims- Death drowned in river between sets

After the news of Kapil’s death, AICWA (All India Cine Workers Association) has expressed concern and appealed for a strict inquiry into the matter. Also, in his post, the film Kantara actor and producer Rishabh Shetty was quoted as saying that Kapil died between shooting. It was written in the post- All India Cine Workers Association is deeply saddened by the death of 33-year-old junior artist MF Kapil.

Along with this, the association has demanded strict action in the matter, as reports of accidents on the sets have been coming out for the last few days.

A bus filled with junior artist was accident

This is not the first time an accident occurred on the set of Kantara 2. Shortly before, while returning from the shooting location, a bus carrying junior artists was overturned and the set was also damaged by strong thunderstorms. Kantara 2 is the second part of the Kantara series. The first part of Kantara came in the year 2022 and it earned tremendous at the box office. Kantara 2 is the prequel of this series.
