Haridwar of Uttarakhand resonated with the shouts of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Bum Bum Bhole’ on Wednesday. The Kavad Yatra, which lasted a fortnight, ended. Millions of devotees flocked on the banks of the Ganges to take the water of the holy river on Sawan Shivaratri and to perform Jalabhishek in the Shiva temples of the city. According to the sources of the fair control room, more than 4.5 crore devotees reached Haridwar within a fortnight to take Ganga water during the Kavad Yatra this year.

The Dakshaprajapati Mahadev temple complex located in the Kankhal region continued to have a influx of saffron devotees, which is considered to be the in -laws of Lord Shiva. According to mythological beliefs, Lord Shiva resides in the entire Shravan month Kankhal, following the promise given to his father -in -law King Daksha. A large crowd of devotees also gathered in other pagoda of Kankhal, such as the poor Bhanjan, Tilbhandeshwar, Bilveshwar, Nileshwar and Gaurishankar temples.
Haridwar District Magistrate Mayur Dixit and Senior Superintendent of Police Pramod Doval also performed Ganga with their subordinate officers at Har Ki Pauri. He took water from there and performed Jalabhishek in the Daksha temple and thanked Lord Shiva for the closing of the Kavad fair organized by crores of devotees every year. A large number of devotees are reaching the Shiva temples on Sawan Shivaratri for darshan and worship.

In Varanasi, Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kashi Vishwanath Temple said, “Since this morning, a huge crowd of devotees has been thronging the temple and flowers are being rained on the devotees.” Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal said that special monitoring is being done through CCTV cameras and drones. Meanwhile, a large number of devotees are also coming to the ancient Karthikeya Mahadev temple opened in Sambhal after about 46 years.
