Wang started a two -day visit to India on Monday to participate in the 24th round of Special Representatives (SR) talks on the border issue with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The meeting is taking place after Doval’s visit to Beijing in December, where he held the 23rd round of talks. The yatra took place only a few weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to revive the talks system during the BRICS summit in Kazan.

Earlier, China had said that the purpose of Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to India is to work with New Delhi to embrace the important understanding between the leaders of both sides and the decisions taken in the previous round border talks. Wang is on a two -day visit to India to attend the 24th round of Special delegates (SR) on the border issue with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Doval went to China in December and held a 23rd round of talks with Wang. The talks took place a few weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in a meeting held in the Russian city Kazan on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in October.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said that through Wang’s visit, China hopes to realize the important consensus between leaders, to maintain high-level exchange, increase political beliefs, promote practical cooperation, resolve practical cooperation, resolve differences and promote continuous, strong and stable growth of China-India relations. On Monday, Mao commented on Wang’s visit to a media briefing here on Monday, saying that special representative level talks on the Indo-China border question are a high-level medium of border talks between the two countries. He said that during the 23rd round of talks in Beijing, the two sides obtained many general consent on delimitation, dialogue, limit management mechanisms, border exchange and cooperation.
