Addressing the song launch event held at Punjab Bhavan, the Health Minister said that millets (coarse grains like Bajra, Jowar, Kangni, Kodra) should be included in the mid-day meal and hospital diets to realize Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s dream of making Punjab healthy. ) proposed to include

Dr. Balbir Singh, who is in favor of preventive health, said that eating coarse grains is not only a good choice for us, but it is also environmentally friendly, so awareness is needed to make coarse grains a part of the diet. In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the year 2023 as the Year of the Millet.

Appreciating this unique awareness initiative of the health department, he said that through this, lakhs of people will know about the benefits of coarse grains. He also praised all the team members who worked in the song including renowned artists Jaswinder Bhalla, Bal Mukand Sharma, Lyricist Dr. Only Arora, director Neer Singh Dhillon and producers are involved.

Emphasizing the need to go back to the roots, Balbir Singh said that our elders used to eat bajra, jowar and kangini as their main diet and they were much healthier than today’s generation. So we all should adopt our traditional eating habits to stay healthy.

The minister also directed the officials to organize fairs in villages to promote its cultivation besides making people aware about the benefits of coarse grains. He also lauded the efforts of Agri Heritage Forum, which has been promoting organic farming and coarse grains for the past two decades. He said that his services will also be taken by the government in the near future.

Artists Jaswinder Bhalla and Bal Mukand Sharma thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for such social awareness initiative, which will definitely help in making Punjab a healthy and prosperous state.

He appealed to the people to watch and listen to this song and adopt the message given through this song in their lives and assured them to be a part of such noble social initiatives of the Punjab government in the future as well.

Principal Secretary Health Vivek Pratap Singh said traditional food should be promoted which has been a part of our culture since time immemorial. Officials of Food and Drug and Public Education and Media Wing of Health Department were also present on this occasion.
