The AAP MLA wrote on X that I, Mehraj Malik, MLA from Doda, withdraw my support to NC in the government alliance. This decision has been taken in the best interest of my people of Jammu and Kashmir, whose trust and welfare will always be my top priority.
Mehraj Malik, the only MLA of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Jammu and Kashmir, has withdrawn support from the National Conference-led government. The withdrawal of support by Malik will not affect the government as the National Conference-Congress alliance has its own majority. In the 90 -seat assembly, NC has 42 MLAs and Congress has six MLAs and the government also has the support of five independent MLAs.

Malik created history by defeating BJP’s Gajjay Singh Rana by 4,538 votes from Doda assembly constituency in last year’s assembly elections, making him the first and only winning candidate from Jammu and Kashmir.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Saturday that after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, the gardens of tourist places closed due to security reasons are being reopened in a phased manner, so that tourists can move to those places. He said that in the first phase, some destinations will be reopened from 17 June. Sinha said, “Some places were closed after 22 April (attack) due to security reasons. Divisional commissioners and police supervisors of Kashmir and Jammu have taken reports from every district and it has been decided to reopen some places in a phased manner.”
