Jammu Kashmir: PM Modi inaugurated Chenab Bridge, know about it

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Jammu and Kashmir today, which is his first visit to the region after the Pahalgam terror attack. During his visit, the Prime Minister inaugurated the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River, which is an important milestone in the Udhampur-Banihal railway project, which will greatly improve connectivity in the entire region. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, CM Omar Abdullah and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav were also present. Prime Minister Modi interacted with Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project Team. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived to inspect the Chenab Rail Bridge. The Chenab Rail Bridge, an architectural miracle and the world’s highest railway Arch Bridge, is 1,315 meters in length and is a proof of state -of -the -art engineering. Designed for extraordinary flexibility, it can withstand highly seismic activity and air speed of up to 266 km/h, which are important characteristics in view of its location in the high -risk seismic region. For the first time for Indian Railways, this bridge is made of anti-blast steel and concrete, outlining its strategic importance and strong security characteristics.
The world’s highest railway Arch Bridge located in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL), which aims to promote connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. Before this big day, we closely look at how the Chenab Bridge is actually a notable act of engineering and how it is designed to withstand the earthquake and huge explosion of 40 kg TNT.
The world’s highest railway bridge, Chenab Bridge, is designed by WSP Finland in collaboration with German firm Leonhart, Andra Egg Partner, designing the bridge arches, and Vienna Consulting Engineers have helped the designs of the pillars. After the design is ready, employees and engineers of the Konkan Railway Corporation embodied the schemes. And this is not an easy task. This bridge, 1,315 meter long, is built on the Chenab River in the Kauri area of ​​Reasi district.

The thing to make this bridge really amazing is that it is built at an altitude of 359 meters (1,178 ft) from the bottom of the Chenab River, which makes it the world’s highest railway bridge. For those who want perspective, let us know that 359 meters is about 35 meters high than the Eiffel Tower of Paris. The construction of the bridge included 28,660 metric tonnes of steel, 10 lakh cubic meters of soil work, 66,000 meters of concrete and 26 km of motorous roads. According to those involved in the construction of the Chenab bridge, the total weight of the arches is 10,619 metric tons.
