Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday chaired a meeting of his ministers and top officials at Ski Resort Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting is part of his government’s efforts to bring tourists back in the Union Territory after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. After the meeting, he said that a cabinet meeting was called in Pahalgam yesterday and today there was a meeting of administrative secretaries and senior department heads. I have instructed the Minister of Education to ensure that picnics start again in schools and colleges and visit Gulmarg and Pahalgam so that the situation can be normal.

Earlier, Omar Abdullah announced on Tuesday that the government would build a memorial in Basaron in Pahalgam in memory of 26 people killed in the terrorist attack last month. He said that suggestions would be sought to build a grand and dignified and respectable memorial. The Chief Minister said, we have been discussing this since day one … A memorial will be built in memory of the 26 innocent people killed in Basaron, which will be a permanent tribute and reminding that they will never be forgotten.
