Jammu and Kashmir government will give five marla land to flood affected families: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that five marla lands will be given to each family who were homeless due to floods so that they can build their homes again.

Abdullah announced this during a conversation with the residents of Duggan village of Bilawar tehsil of Kathua district, whose houses and livelihoods have been badly affected by the recent floods.

The Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of flood affected areas of Kathua and Reasi districts, along with MLA Rameshwar Singh and Gulabgarh MLA Khurshid Ahmed.

Abdullah also met people in Mahore in Reasi. Assuring the affected people of all possible assistance, Abdullah instructed the administration to ensure timely relief and rehabilitation measures.

He said, “The year 2025 has brought huge destruction in Jammu and Kashmir as in March-April, from drought to August-September, there has been continuous rains, sudden floods and landslides. From Kathua to Kupwara, there is unprecedented loss. ”

Abdullah said about the destruction that torrential rains have damaged more than 350 bridges, about 2000 km road network, thousands of hectares of agricultural land, besides standing crops and both government and private properties have been damaged. He said, “Given the prevalence of rehabilitation challenges, Jammu and Kashmir is expecting a comprehensive relief package from the Central Government.
