The court has issued orders for the auction of Jagatjit Club, the historical heritage of Kapurthala. This order has come in the case of an old land acquisition compensation. The owner of the land appealed to the court for non -payment of compensation amount by the government.

According to the information, the land of Nirbhail Singh, a resident of Phagwara, was acquired by the Punjab government in the year 2000. Nirbhail Singh appealed to the Phagwara SDM court for non -payment of compensation amount by the government. A total of 1 crore 42 lakh 19 thousand 304 rupees were outstanding in the case.
Order for auction of club land issued
On 11 October 2023, the then Sessions Judge Amninder Singh Grewal ordered the attachment of the land of Jagjit Club. After this, on 2 April 2024, District and Sessions Judge Harpal Singh issued orders for auction of the club of the club.
As per the court order, a notice board will have to be installed by 18 April. Munadi will be done by 28 April. The auction will be held on 9 May and its report will have to be submitted to the court by 17 May.

The District Deputy Commissioner said that the matter came to his notice two days ago. They will take further action by taking legal opinion. The order of the auction of Jagatjit Club is a wave of concern among the people of Kapurthala as it is one of the major historical heritage of the city.
