Chandigarh : To avoid arrest, the Income Tax Department has issued a notice against the so-called guide or guru of absconding Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh, Papalpreet Singh. According to media reports, in the notice, the Income Tax Department has directed to disclose the source of Rs 4.48 lakh deposited in the bank account of Papalpreet Singh. Interestingly, Amritpal Singh’s guru Papalpreet Singh is absconding since the day Punjab Police launched a major crackdown against his disciple on March 18. A notice has been issued to him under section 147 of the Income Tax Act. This section of income-tax provides that if the Assessing Officer has reason to believe that certain income has escaped assessment for any assessment year, he may assess or reassess such income.

Guru-disciple absconded leaving Sri Guru Granth Sahib

According to officials, the income tax notice issued in the name of Amritpal Singh’s guru Papalpreet Singh has been received from Baljit Kaur’s house in Shahabad, Kurukshetra, Haryana. He told that Papalpreet Singh and Amritpal Singh had taken refuge in Baljit’s house on March 19 and 20 after escaping from the Punjab Police. According to officials, both of them changed their disguise there and then fled leaving the holy ‘Shri Guru Granth Sahib’. He said that a true Sikh would never leave his kirpan.

Told a lie to the woman of Kurukshetra

Officials said that Papalpreet Singh and Amritpal Singh lied to Kurukshetra woman Baljit that someone would come to collect her bag, but their plan failed as the Punjab Police raided Baljit’s house and seized the bag. According to officials, in the Income Tax notice issued on March 14, Papalpreet has been asked to file a reply by March 20. He said that Papalpreet has not responded to the notice as he has been helping Amritpal to escape from the eyes of the police since March 18.

Papalpreet runs a website called Punjab Shield

According to officials, the Income Tax Department informed Papalpreet that his assessment has been marked as ‘High Risk-CRIU (Case Related Information Uploaded)’ and that he had unaccounted income of Rs 4.48 lakh. I asked to tell. An internal note of the Income Tax Department states that Papalpreet Singh is a journalist by profession, who lives outside Amritsar and runs a website named ‘Punjab Shield’. This website is considered a Khalistani propaganda website.

Papalpreet cheated income tax

Papalpreet, while giving the details of his income to the Income Tax Department, said that he earns an average of 8 to 20 thousand rupees every month from YouTube, while the income from dairy business is 15 thousand rupees. On February 14, the Income Tax Department rejected Papalpreet’s details and asked him to produce credit transactions and documents in support of his claim. The Income Tax Department had clarified that Papalpreet Singh did not file the return for the financial year 2019-20, during which an amount of Rs 4,48,868 was deposited in his bank account and the details of the same need to be given.

Papalpreet Singh in contact with ISI

Papalpreet Singh is accused of being in close contact with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and working at its behest. He is considered the mentor of Amritpal Singh, who advises him on various issues. Some pictures of Papalpreet Singh had surfaced on social media, in which he was seen riding a motorcycle with Amritpal Singh. Later this motorcycle was found abandoned at Phillaur in Jalandhar.

Papalpreet fueling the Khalistani movement in Punjab

Officials said that Papalpreet is working towards fueling the Khalistan movement in Punjab at the behest of ISI. He said that on the advice of Papalpreet, Amritpal disguised as a common man from a fundamentalist and then ran away leaving Phatfatia unclaimed in Phillaur. According to officials, Papalpreet is facing four criminal cases, one under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the other related to the Ajnala police station incident.
