Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got a call. He informed me about the current situation. I shared India’s concerns and emphasized the need for early restoration of peace and stability in the region.”
Israel attacked Iran on Friday morning in which top military officers were killed and nuclear and missile targets were targeted, leading to an increase in the possibility of a widespread war between two staunch opponents of West Asia. This was the biggest attack on Iran after the war with Iraq in the 1980s.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of External Affairs had said that India is “extremely concerned” with recent developments between Iran and Israel and is “closely monitoring” on the emerging situation. India urged both sides to “avoid any steps enhancing tension”.
