In response to the 20-point Gaza Shanti Yojana offered by US President Donald Trump this week, Hamas has agreed to leave all Israeli prisoners, whether alive or dead. A few hours later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that his country is preparing to implement the “first phase” of Trump’s plan. The statement of the Prime Minister’s Office said that Israel will work to end the war in full cooperation with Trump.
At the same time, many media reports have indicated ‘laxity’ in attacks in Gaza Strip. This came when Trump ordered Israel to stop bombing Gaza on Friday.
Hamas said that he is ready to leave the prisoners and need further interaction between the Palestinian sides on other matters. Senior Hamas officials also said that some big issues still have differences and need more discussion.
Welcoming Hamas’s statement, Trump said, “I think they are ready for permanent peace. Israel should immediately stop bombing on Gaza so that we can safely and free the prisoners. It is very dangerous to do this at this time. We are already discussing its details.”
Hamas said that he is ready to leave the Israeli prisoners as per Trump’s plan, but will require “compulsory regional conditions”. He did not clarify what these conditions are. In addition, the group stated that it is ready to interact immediately through the mediators.
According to Trump’s plan, all detainees will be returned by Hamas within 72 hours of Israel’s public acceptance. Subsequently, Israel will free 250 Palestinian prisoners, who are serving life imprisonment, as well as 1,700 Gaza residents arrested after 7 October 2023, including all women and children. According to the plan, Israel will leave the remains of 15 dead Gaza residents in lieu of the remains of every Israeli captive.
Hamas said that he agrees with the structure of the end of the war and the “full return” of Israel.
