At least one student was killed, dozens of injured and 65 others are feared trapped in a school building collapse in Indonesia. As soon as the information was received, the rescue team reached the spot and delivered oxygen and water to the students trapped in the unstable school building debris. More than eight hours after the collapse of Al Khojini Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo city of East Java, rescuers, police and soldiers excavated eight weak and injured children by digging overnight. Rescuers saw more bodies, indicating that the number of dead is likely to increase.

The students’ families gathered near hospitals or collapsed building, and were eagerly waiting for their children’s news. His relatives were mourning after seeing the rescuers out of the prayer hall, who were dusted with dust from the prayer hall. A notice board on the command post set up in the boarding school premises was reported to have disappeared 65 students till Tuesday morning. Most of these are boys from seventh to class XI, who are between 12 and 17 years old. A discovery and rescue officer leading the search and rescue operations, Nanang Sigit reported that the search and rescue operations are being interrupted due to heavy slabs and debris of concrete and unstable parts of the building. Heavy equipment were available, but they were not being used due to concern that it could further collapse the building.

Hundreds of rescuers were involved in this campaign and they had breathing, exit, medical withdrawal and other accessories. Provincial police spokesperson Jules Abraham Abast said that the students were reciting the afternoon prayers in a building, which was being made unauthorized, then the building suddenly fell on him. Residents, teachers and administrators helped the injured students, many of whom suffered head injuries and bones broke. The remaining people said that the students were offering prayers in the other part of the building and somehow escaped.
