ISI -backed weapon smuggling gang busted in Punjab, five people arrested

The rural police of Amritsar in Punjab along with various central agencies have busted a gang -smuggling gang under a joint operation. The Punjab Police Chief gave this information on Sunday.

Police said the gang had a relationship with the operatives of Pakistan-based intelligence agency ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence). Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said that five people have been arrested during this action.

Police have seized an AK Saga 308 assault rifle, two magazines, two 9mm glock pistol, 90 cartridges of AK rifle, 10 cartridges of pistol, 10 cartridges of pistol, Rs 7.50 lakh cash, a car and three mobile phones from the accused.

Yadav said in a ‘post’ on the social media forum ‘X’, “Initial investigation has revealed that the accused had a relationship with ISI -based ISI operatives. This consignment of weapons was to be sent to Nav Pandori, a known colleague of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, indicating connivance between terrorism and gangster.

He said that the accused have been identified as Jobanjit Singh alias Joban, a native of Ranggarh village, and Gora Singh, Shainshan alias Shalu of Rasulpur Kallar, Amritsar, Sunny Singh and Jaspreet Singh alias Motu of a village in Rupnagar.
