Is Chidambaram weakening Rahul Gandhi? 26/11 statement caused a fierce fierce in Congress

Senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Wednesday reacted sharply to the recent revelations made by former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in connection with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and questioned the time and intention of his statement. Chidambaram has recently revealed in a statement that he was in favor of retaliation against Pakistan after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, but were eventually convinced of doing so.

Reacting to the statement of the former Home Minister, Rashid Alvi said that why did Chidambaram remain silent for 15 to 18 years? If he was so dissatisfied, he should have resigned at the same time. Now what is the compulsion to make such a statement? Does he want to weaken Rahul Gandhi’s hand? Alvi further stated that Rahul Gandhi has been continuously accusing the current BJP government of working under the influence of Trump administration and not showing courage to fight Washington. He said, “At such a time, making such statements while living in Congress is a wrong step.”

More than 170 people lost their lives in 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai by Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and the whole country was shocked. This disclosure of Chidambaram has sparked a new political debate, in which critics are questioning the previous decisions of the Congress leadership. Speaking at ABP News Podcast, Chidambaram referred to the decision -making process and how international diplomatic pressure, especially the United States pressure, shaped India’s stance.

Chidambaram remembered that he took over as Home Minister on 30 November 2008, a day after the attacks and soon after Shivraj Patil’s resignation. Chidambaram said on inside out podcast, I became the Home Minister the next day of the attack. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh called me from the Ministry of Finance to transfer me to the Ministry of Home Affairs. When I initially refused, I was told that Mrs. Gandhi (Sonia Gandhi), who was the Congress President at that time, has already decided. I asked if I could talk to him, but I was told that he was out of the city. I was instructed to take charge the next morning.
