Iran decided to withdraw the proposal prohibiting attacks on nuclear installations, which it, along with China, Russia and other countries, had placed to vote in the annual meeting of member countries of the United Nations Atomic Monitoring Institution. This decision to withdraw the proposal has come at a time when the US allies have started the process of re -imposing the United Nations ban on Iran’s nuclear program. Western diplomats, who spoke on the condition of anonymity not printing for internal deliberations, said that the US is lobbying strongly from behind the curtain to prevent this proposal from passing.

Diplomats reported that earlier, the US had expressed the possibility that if the resolution passes and if the agency takes steps to reduce Israel’s rights within the agency, it could deduct the funds received by the International Atomic Energy Agency. As a result of the Israeli attack on an atomic reactor in Iraq in 1981, assistance to Israel was suspended under the IAEA’s technical support program. At that time, the attack was strongly condemned in the proposals passed by the United Nations Security Council, IAEA convention and IAEA Board of Governors.

On June 22, the US attacked three Iranian nuclear installations and included itself in the war. Iran has been saying for a long time that her nuclear program is peaceful.
