IPL 2025: From Suryavanshi’s record century to Ayush Mhatre’s exploits and Pant’s struggle

Rishabh Pant, the most expensive player of the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far, finally scored a century in the last league match of Lucknow Super Giants, although the team missed the victory, while Akshar Patel’s Delhi Capitals lost the way after a good start. At the same time, former winners Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders continued to perform and Sunrisers Hyderabad performed poorly throughout the tournament. This year it took a total of 67 days, including a 10-day break, to end the early stages of 70 IPL matches and so far there was a lot of ups and downs during the tournament.

The journey of fluctuations so far before the playoff starts is as follows.

Young players performed strongly: Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals was 13 years old when he was elected in ‘Mega Auction’ last December and at the age of 14 in May, he became the youngest Indian player to score the fastest century in IPL and second fastest century so far against Gujarat Titans. He enchanted the veterans of the game with his magnificent stroke play and passion.

India’s T20 International opener Abhishek Sharma was also one of the players to score a century. The list also included Priyansh Arya of Punjab Kings (who has not played international cricket) who scored his first IPL century. Prabhasimran Singh also showed that he has power while Ayush Mhatre gave Chennai Super Kings (CSK) a chance to smile.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s poor form:
Last year’s runner-up SRH landed with the most dangerous batting line-up but his aggressive attitude failed completely. SRH started the IPL by scoring the second highest score against Rajasthan Royals by 286 runs for six wickets and concluded against Kolkata Knight Riders by 278 for three by scoring the third highest score. The team had no ‘Plan B’ for batting in which Nitish Kumar Reddy disappointed to a great extent and caused losses due to not being a great spinner to bowl in the powerplay.

CSK learned lessons : CSK learned a lesson this year as he had to give up his strategy to keep young talents on the bench and depend only on experienced players like MS Dhoni. 17 -year -old Mumbai batsman Mhatre performed well despite the team’s troubles, while South Africa’s Dewald Brevis in the end performed brilliantly. Afghanistan’s 20 -year -old Noor Ahmed was the most successful spinner of CSK while R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were other options.

Sai Sudarshan batted strongly:
Young Sudarshan showed that runs can be raised without taking risks. He is still at the top of the list by scoring more than 670 runs and his reward was from joining the national team for England’s Test tour. The Gujarat Titans batsman was among the best batsmen of this season.

Mumbai Indians performed as usual : Mumbai Indians always made it to the playoffs after making a slow start. After starting with four defeats in the first five matches, Hardik Pandya’s team won the next six matches and reached the top teams. Rohit Sharma and Tilak Verma could not perform well but Suryakumar Yadav showed why he is the best in it. Jasprit Bumrah has taken 17 wickets in 10 matches.

Bad session for Rajasthan Royals:
The team stood at the bottom of CSK due to Sanju Samson’s fitness and lack of passion among other players. Due to separation from players like Jose Butler, Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Trent Bolt, his balance was probably a lot of deterioration.

Delhi Capitals derailed after a spectacular start:
In the beginning of the IPL, it seemed that the team would not make any mistake but the team lagged behind in terms of continuous performance. The team was at the top of the table after starting with five out of the first six wins but lost five out of the next eight matches.

KKR’s performance was poor, but Rahane stayed:
Captain Ajinkya Rahane stood alone, but the session was very poor for Venkatesh Iyer, the most expensive player and vice-captain of the franchise. The playoff race for the defending champions with five defeats in the first eight matches ended long ago.

Marsh and Puran maintained dominance:
Five wins in the first eight matches gave the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) a chance to make it to the last four, but Pant again missed the playoffs due to poor performance with bat, depth deficiency in mid -order and lack of diversity in bowling. But Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Puran and Eden Markram strengthened him.

The rise of Punjab Kings:
Captain Shreyas Iyer’s performance in the last one year has proved that he has always been the architect of the change of struggling team. There was no doubt with coaches such as firm Iyer and Australian Ricky Ponting that it would be very difficult to defeat PBKS and a performance like defending the lowest score (111 runs) against KKR is an example of this.

Gill’s Gujarat Titans flew:
Since joining Gujarat Titans three years ago, he has scored at least 400 runs in each session, but Gill not only set the example but ensured that his team was ahead in the race despite the poor form of the main bowler like Rashid Khan.
