IPL 2021: Chennai beat Kolkata by 27 runs to clinch the IPL title for the fourth time

Chennai Super Kings have once again clinched the IPL title. Chennai clinched the IPL trophy for the fourth time by defeating Kolkata Knight Riders. CSK did not even reach the playoffs in the last IPL and is now the champion.

Rituraj Gaikwad (32 off 27 balls) shared 61 for the first wicket, Robin Uthappa 63 for the second wicket and Moin Ali 68 for the third wicket.

On the other hand, chasing a target of 193, Kolkata’s Shubman Gill scored 51 off 43 balls. Apart from that, Venkatesh Aiyar gave a solid start by adding 91 runs for the first wicket, but then Kolkata lost eight wickets for 34 runs.

Apart from the two openers, only Shivam Mavi (20) and Loki Ferguson (18) were unbeaten in the lower order. This is the fourth title for the Chennai Super Kings. Apart from the year 2021, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team had won the title in 2010, 2011 and 2018. The title is also special for Chennai as they did not qualify for the playoffs in the last IPL, but Dhoni’s team made a great comeback and this time clinched the title.
