New Delhi. ‘International Yoga Day’ was celebrated with enthusiasm by doing yoga in the banquet hall of Maharashtra Sadan. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Union Minister of AYUSH (Independent Charge) Shri. Prataparao Jadhav, in his message to Maharashtra Information Center, explained the importance of yoga, saying, “Yoga is an ancient gift to India, which keeps the body, mind and soul healthy. With the inspiration of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, yoga has become a global movement. Let us spread yoga under the concept of ‘Ek Earth, One Health Yoga’ and make a resolution of ‘Fit India’ and ‘Health India’.
Resident Commissioner and Secretary R.K. Vimala said, “By doing only five minutes of yoga every day, the mind and body remains healthy, as well as refreshed and cheerful. Yoga should be made an integral part of lifestyle. Regular yoga exercises leads to physical and mental health, so that a person can fulfill daily responsibilities.”
Nisha Chand, instructor of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, explained the importance of yoga and presented demonstrations. Assistant Local Commissioner Smita Shelar, Information Officer Anju Nimsarkar, Manager Pramod Kolpate, Assistant Security Officer Anil Chorge, Maharashtra Sadan and Maharashtra Introduction Center employees as well as security personnel participated in a large number of security personnel.
The program began with prayer with the collective pronunciation of ‘4’. Subtle exercises included neck speed, waist speed and knee motion. The yoga session included Tadasana, Vriksasana, Padhastasana, Trigonasana, Bhadrasana, Vajrasana, Shashankasana, Makarasana, Bhujangasana, Pawanmuktasana and Shavasana. The Pranayama session included Kapalbhati, Nadishana, Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari Pranayama and Dhyan Mudra.
