International Amy Award: Diljit Dosanjh nominated for Amar Singh Chamkila

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh was named as Best Actor at the 2025 International Amy Awards on Thursday for his character in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s acclaim biopic film Amar Singh Chamkila.

Directed by Ali, the film also got another nomination and has also made its place in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category. The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced these nominations in New York, with the film emerged as the only Indian entry.

Produced by Window seat Films, the film came on Netflix in which Dosanjh played the top character of a Punjabi singer, who was shot dead in 1988 with her singer-wife Amarjot (starred by Paraniti Chopra). In the Best Actor category, Dosanjh will compete with David Mitchell for ‘Ludwig’ (UK), Oriol Plas for ‘Yo, Edicto’ (Spain) and Diego Vaskej for ‘One Handred Year of Solitud’ (Colombia).

The film will compete with ‘Herrahausen: The Banker and the Bomb’ (Germany), ‘Lost Boys and Fairyries’ (UK) and ‘Vensear O Morir’ (Chile) for the TV movie/mini-series award. The winners will be announced at the 53rd International Amy Awards ceremony, which will be held in New York City on 24 November.
