Indigo aircraft collided with ground while landing at Mumbai airport, order for investigation

While landing at the Mumbai airport on Saturday, the back of the Indigo passenger aircraft from Bangkok collided with the ground, due to which the aviation safety regulator DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Sources gave this information.

He said that both the pilots of ‘Airbus A321 Neo’ have been removed from the aircraft till the investigation is completed. Indigo spokesperson said in a statement, “The rear part of Indigo’s Airbus A321 aircraft collided with the runway while flying at a low altitude due to adverse weather in Mumbai on August 16.

According to ‘Flitterdar 24.com’, a website giving information about the flight status, the airline’s flight 6060 left from Bangkok at 12.12 pm (local time) instead of its scheduled departure at 11.40 pm (local time) and finally at 3.04 am instead of 2.50 am instead of 2.50 am.

The airline said, “The aircraft tried to land twice and landed safely.” A senior official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “We will investigate the incident.”

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, more than 200 mm of rain was recorded in many parts of Mumbai between 8.30 am to 5.30 am on Friday. According to sources, a total of 15 times the aircraft had to be tried at the Mumbai airport between midnight and six in the morning on Saturday, including the Indigo aircraft, which collided with the ground.

Sources said that each flight of Air India and IndiGo was converted to other airports and later brought to Mumbai. IndiGo said in a statement that the required investigation/repair and regulatory approval would be taken before resuming operation of the aircraft, following the standard protocol.
