India’s ambitious Sudarshan Chakra is expected to have an important role in the air defense system, which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day address. The announcement was made by Russian Ambassador Roman Babushkin in India, who emphasized the long -term role of Moscow as a reliable defense partner. Inspired by the mythological weapon of Lord Krishna, the Sudarshan Chakra system aims to neutralize the dangers of the enemy and to accurately attack, which represents an adventure leap in the direction of military self -sufficiency.
Roman Babushkin Did Sudarshan Chakra Mention of
On Wednesday (August 20), a press conference at the Russian Embassy came alive when Roman Babushkin, in -charge of New Delhi from Moscow, chose a unique Indian word for Russia’s most advanced air defense system. This question was asked by a journalist whether India could consider air defense systems like Israel’s Iron Dome. Babushkin smiled, bowed forward and asked in return, “Do you mean Sudarshan Chakra?” He did not stop here. With an entertaining sense, he said, “Next time ask in Hindi, I will be able to give better answers!”
India has already purchased the S-400 missile system from Russia. In Indian defense circles, this system has the title of “Sudarshan Chakra”. The system came into the limelight during a four -day clash with Pakistan in May, when this system proved its effectiveness in the battlefield by stopping the enemy’s missiles.

Ambassador in charge of Russia Roman Babushkin also talked about US ban on India
Ambassador in -charge of Russia in Delhi, Roman Babushkin said on Wednesday that Russia has a “special mechanism” to face any challenge arising out of America’s punitive action against India for the purchase of Russian crude oil. India and the United States have become tense after the decision of US President Donald Trump to double the fees on Indian goods to 50 percent.
Hope to improve our country’s relations with Delhi rapidly
Babushkin hoped to rapidly improve his country’s relations with New Delhi in many important areas at a press conference here and said that Russia has been India’s “favorite partner” for various military equipment and equipment. Restrics harmful to global economic stability and energy security
He said, “We are moving beyond the understanding that when it comes to advancing these systems, Russian equipment will be part of it.” The Ambassador in charge of Russia described the constant pressure from the US on the US to stop the purchase of Russian oil and said that such approach and restrictions are harmful to global economic stability and energy security. Babushkin said, “This is a challenging situation for India. We have confidence in our partnership with India. We are committed to resolve the challenges faced in energy relations between the two countries.”
India-Russia energy cooperation will continue to grow
He expressed confidence that India-Russia energy cooperation will continue to increase. Russian officials admitted that in view of western charges and restrictions, it would be a matter of five percent of oil import prices, although it would be a matter of discussion. Last week, US Finance Minister Scott Besant warned that if India continues to buy Russian crude oil, the Trump administration could increase the fee on India. The United States has imposed an additional 25 per cent fee on India due to energy relations with Russia, but has not taken any such action against China, the largest buyer of Russian crude oil.
India has been defending its purchase of Russian Russian crude oil, saying that its energy purchase is inspired by national interest and market dynamics. After the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Western countries stopped the supply of crude oil by banning Moscow, after which India started purchasing Russian oil at low prices. As a result, Russia’s stake in total oil imports increased to 35.1 percent in 2024–25, which was only 1.7 percent in 2019-20. Babushkin said, “The ban is affecting those who impose them. We are confident that India-Russia energy cooperation will continue despite external pressure. ”
He said, “Russia is the largest supplier of crude oil to India and India’s demand is increasing. Undoubtedly, this is an ideal example of mutual harmony and supplementation between our economies.” Babushkin said that the two sides are committed to carrying bilateral trade to 100 billion US dollars by 2030. He will welcome a question about American duty on Indian goods.
The Russian ambassador said that the dates of President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India have not been decided later this year. In response to a question, he said that the role of BRICS will increase as a stable power between the existing global upheavals. The Russian diplomat also said that there will be further expansion in the field of defense cooperation between India and Russia.
