Upendra Dwivedi will go on an official visit to Algeria next week, underlining India’s efforts to strengthen its strategic participation in Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. This will be his first foreign tour after the army’s success in Operation Sindoor. The visit of the army chief is taking place after the recent visits of President Draupadi Murmu and Chief Defense President General Anil Chauhan, who laid the foundation of close bilateral relations between the two countries. Army Chief will discuss with Algeria to strengthen military to military relations, expand training programs and discuss capability development. India and Algeria have most of the military equipment and technology the same. India can help them in training and maintenance from their experience. There will be talk of increasing cooperation in defense technology. The two countries will also find opportunities for defense industry, modernization, logistics and equipment cooperation. This is expected to increase trust, coordination and practical cooperation between the two armies.
