India is now the world’s third largest domestic aviation market … IATA Summit said PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the annual general meeting of the IATA (International Air Transport Association). He said that the Indian aviation sector is a major unit in the global air transport industry. He said that India has a market for the aviation sector, talent for technology and innovation and free and cooperative policy. The PM claimed that India is the third largest domestic civil aviation market in the world. India is investing in world class airports, the number of airports increased from 74 to 162.

Prime Minister Modi said that the government is taking all steps to make India a global manufacturing center. Repair and maintenance of aircraft (MRO) is the target of making India a global center of MRO by 2030. He said that today we are standing at a turn, where our travel plan is not limited to the cities of the earth. Today humans are dreaming of commercializing space flights and interpretation visits and opening them to civil aviation. It is true that there is some time in it, but it suggests how big changes and innovation are going to be in the coming time.
Modi said that India is ready for all these possibilities. I mention the three strong pillars of India which are the basis for it- first, India has a market. This market is not just a group of consumers, but also a reflection of India’s aspirational society. Second, we have demographics and talent for technology and innovation. Our youth are innovatives of the new era who are bringing successes in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Clean Energy. Third, we have an open and assistant ecosystem policy for the industry. Based on these three capabilities, we have to take the aviation sector of India to new heights.
The Prime Minister said that in the past years, India has seen unprecedented changes in the civil aviation sector. Today India is the third largest domestic aviation market in the world. The success of our flight scheme is a golden chapter of Indian civil aviation. Under this scheme, more than 15 million passengers have got affordable air travel facilities. Many citizens traveled air for the first time. Our airlines are also continuously achieving double digits.

He said that about 240 million passengers travel every year in our country, including Indian and foreign airlines … by 2030, this number is expected to reach 500 million … We are investing in the infrastructure of world class airports. As of 2014 there were 74 operations airports in India. Today this number has increased to 162. Indian carriers have ordered over 2000 aircraft orders, it will not only cross the geographical boundaries, but will also take it towards stability, green mobility and justified access.
