West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that India is not really independent under the BJP -led government at the Center even after independence from British rule almost eight decades ago.
Banerjee, who attended the programs organized in Behala and Hazra on the eve of Independence Day, alleged in a post on social media that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is taking the right to vote from the people, freedom of expression and other fundamental rights. He said, despite India getting independence 78 years ago, people are not really independent under fascist BJP rule.
